The weather didn’t look so good during the week, and a few people pulled out, but we headed to Narooma anyway. Well we got it right- beautiful weather, nice flat seas and amazing visibility! Not to mention, we made up for our last Narooma trip where everyone saw grey nurse sharks except for us - this time we were the only ones to see them on the first day! All in all another top trip!

Narooma has always been a great place for me to dive, I have generally managed to not get too seasick! I was not sure if this weekend would be the same as the forecast was not good. However, Saturday come around with blue sky and we headed out to Montague Island. The vis was better than we expected and we jumped into the water at the ballroom. Descending straight to the bottom I was amazed to see a small grey nurse shark heading straight towards me. The shark came within a couple of metres and maintained its slow graceful swim then circled back around us again. It was a great way to start a wonderful weekends diving!

My First time diving at Montague! Weather conditions didn’t look good but once we were out at the island it was fantastic! Four awesome dives and a great weekend! Thanks to the Club for making us feel so welcome!

I loved staying at Narooma this weekend, the diving was great! I especially liked playing with the seals.I had a great time hanging out with Amy and Amber, we went to the pool, Australia Rock, shopping and played on the beach. Accommodation was great and the crabs on the beach were really fun to play with. I can’t wait to go back next time!

It was a great weekend diving with my dad at Montague Island! All the seals were playing around us, it was a great experience diving with the seals darting around us.

A terrific weekend at Narooma, the vis was better than I had anticipated, which was a real bonus. Free swimming Moray eels, large wobbegongs, port Jackson sharks, huge schools and patterns of yakkas, shovel nose sharks and thousands of “Montague one spots” Did I mention we also spotted three grey nurse sharks on the Sunday dive?

30 metre vis, schools of kingfish, grey nurse sharks, free swimming morays, snapper, calm seas and sunny days! A fantastic weekend and I even got to take home four kingfish!

With expectations low for diving after the extremely bad weather that had been around for longer than a week. It was extremely surprising to travel out to Montague in reasonably calm seas and find that the visibility was excellent. Although only 4 members were lucky to spot the elusive grey nurse sharks, I had dives interacting with with seals and got some reasonable photos of them and moray eels.

Fantastic dives and a great weekend! Great that the club organised the weather so perfectly and water conditions to be so perfect also. Saw heaps, easy diving with great buddies, my first time here, but not my last!

Magic Montague Island lived up to expectations once again! Great diving, great company!

A terrific weekend of diving with unexpectedly good conditions. A great diversity of marine life. Good camaraderie and lots of time to socialise.

Expectations were low during our drive up to Narooma through the rain and flooded waterways. To our pleasant surprise we had 20m+ vis and marine life of every type. An excellent weekend for all!

It was a great weekend, I really enjoyed my first proper boat dives since completing my course. The water was so warm and blue; I didn’t want to get out! The dives were excellent, we played with seals, there were heaps of Port Jackson sharks and stingrays! I can’t wait till the next trip to Narooma!

What a weekend and what a proud dad I am. Six months ago I wouldn’t have imagined diving into the waters of Montague island with my son Brody. Brody and I had four great dives in some excellent visibility. It was awesome seeing Brody’s face as we seen huge numbers of port Jackson sharks, swam with heaps of seals and with lots of stingrays swimming past us! Well done Brody. What a Trip!

With the drive up to Narooma threatening the worst, it was great to arrive out at Montague Island on the Saturday morning to be greeted with indigo blue water and 20m+ visibility! Amy and I enjoyed 4 magnificent dives with seals, blue groupers, wobbys and port jacksons everywhere. It was one of my best trips to Narooma I’ve ever had!

This year’s Narooma trip was a big success with smooth seas, good visibility, 21 degree water and great weather. Everyone was geared up and ready to go on time (even those who carried all their gear from the caravan park) and a few Grey Nurse sharks made an appearance, or so some people claimed. We weren’t the only ones taking advantage of the conditions; on both days there was an armada of boats around Montague Island. Rob Timmers counted over eighty.
Seals, stingrays, big and little and plenty of Port Jackson and Wobbegong sharks shared the dive with the seals their usual inquisitive selves and even a Port Jackson following us around. Possibly it had been taking tips from the grouper that divers had obviously been keeping well fed. Soup and bread rolls were provided between dives, no surprise that Glen Templar ended up with more than his share. Conditions were great for photography and if people want to put their shots on a memory stick I’ll be bringing a laptop to the next meeting to show them.
